What is Rolfing®?
Rolfing® Structural Integration is a hands-on therapy that works with fascia—the connective tissue of the body—to realign your structure, release tension, and support long-term well-being. Whether you're seeking relief from pain or simply want to move and feel better, Rolfing® can help.
-
How is Rolfing® different from massage or chiropractic care?
Massage focuses on relaxing muscles and relieving surface tension. Chiropractic care adjusts joints (especially the spine). Rolfing® works more holistically, targeting fascia to realign the entire body in gravity—creating deeper, more lasting changes.
-
What is the 3-Series?
The 3-Series offers a focused introduction to Rolfing®. Over three sessions, we address key areas of alignment and movement to reduce tension and improve comfort. It’s perfect for those new to Rolfing® or looking for a shorter commitment with meaningful results.
-
What is the 10-Series?
The 10-Series is a comprehensive program of ten sessions designed to systematically realign the body from head to toe. Each session builds on the last to promote posture, mobility, and whole-body integration.
-
Do I have to do all 10 sessions?
No. Many clients start with a single session or choose the 3-Series to explore how their body responds. Mason will tailor a plan that fits your goals and needs.
-
How often should I come in?
Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or every other week. This gives your body time to integrate the work while maintaining momentum through the series.
-
Is Rolfing® painful?
Rolfing® can involve deep work, but it’s never about pushing through pain. Mason works with you to adjust pressure and pacing, ensuring sessions are effective and respectful of your comfort.
-
Can Rolfing® help even if I’m not in pain?
Yes! Many clients use Rolfing® proactively to improve posture, body awareness, and athletic performance before issues arise.
-
How long is a session?
Each session lasts about 75 minutes, giving time for assessment, hands-on work, and integration.
-
Can Rolfing help during pregnancy?
Yes. Rolfing can ease discomfort from the physical changes of pregnancy by helping the body stay aligned and adaptable. Working with a Rolfer before or during pregnancy may support better posture, circulation, and pelvic balance—potentially making labor and delivery smoother.
-
Is Rolfing safe when pregnant and postpartum?
Always consult your doctor first. Many women find gentle Rolfing helpful throughout pregnancy, but every body is different. Postpartum Rolfing can assist in realigning the body and restoring core stability after birth.
-
Does Rolfing help the unborn baby too?
Indirectly, yes. When the mother’s body is more balanced and her circulation improves, the baby may benefit from better nutrient flow and a calmer, more comfortable environment in the womb.
-
What should I wear to a session?
Wear form-fitting clothing that allows for movement and lets your practitioner see your structure. Please avoid applying lotion or oils before your session.
Women: Sports bra and fitted shorts or two-piece athletic swimwear.
Men: Briefs or fitted athletic shorts.
